The steps below show the workflow to publish Smart Documents from Hexagon PPM applications such as PDS, SmartPlant P&ID, and Smart 3D to SmartPlant Foundation. No translation or mapping is required. The property labels in the Smart Documents are not changed during the publish operation.

  1. (First-time Startup Only) Follow the prompts to create a site database and connect it to your SQL Server instance.

  2. Create your Smart Interop Publisher project.
    -OR-
    Use the default project ([site database name]_General) provided with Smart Interop Publisher.

  3. Register your project to SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) to publish data to SmartPlant Foundation.

  4. Add your Smart Documents from the supported Hexagon PPM application.

  5. Revise and then publish to SmartPlant Foundation.

  6. (Optional) You can also publish Smart Documents to Portal target applications. Some portal applications require the Smart Document to be published to SmartPlant Foundation for access. The portal application allows you to view and navigate in the published Smart Document. In this case, select both SmartPlant Foundation and Portal targets in your project settings.
