The steps below show the workflow to translate models and drawings so they can be accessed from Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence web-based portal applications. Because some Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence portal applications require SmartPlant Foundation to access the translated Smart Models and Smart Drawings, you must select Portal and SmartPlant Foundation as targets. Verify that you have a version of SmartPlant Foundation and the SmartPlant Client that supports publishing portal data files (.binz and .vecz). For this information, go to System Requirements in the Smart Interop Publisher Installation and Setup Guide.
-
(First-time Startup Only) Follow the prompts to create a site database and connect it to your SQL Server instance.
-
Create your Smart Interop Publisher project.
-OR-
Use the default project ([site database name]_General) provided with Smart Interop Publisher. -
(Optional) Register your project to SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) to publish data to SmartPlant Foundation.
-
(Optional) Define configuration and translation settings for each source file type you are using.
For Portal applications that must receive model data from the SmartPlant Foundation vault, select both SmartPlant Foundation and Portal as the targets in your project settings.
For Hexagon applications such as SmartPlant Foundation (SPF), HxGN SDx2, and Smart Construction (SPC) applications that contain the Graphic View Control (GVC) ver. 13 or later, select Compress Portal Data under Common options to improve the model load time. This compression option does not apply to translating portal data for SPF/SDx with GVC ver. 12 and earlier.
To check the GVC version in your SPF or SDx application, go to the GVC Settings > Information Settings.
-
Add your source files.
-
Translate source files.
-
Publish to SmartPlant Foundation, if required.
-
Open using the portal application setup.
