The workflow described in this section summarizes how to (a) map custom properties, referred to in NX as User Defined Attributes (UDAs), to an NX model, (b) translate the model using the MCAD NX source file (.prt), and (c) attach the translated Smart Model into Smart 3D as Reference 3D data. Custom mapping allows required properties from the source files to be visible so that you can logically build onto the referenced model. See Supported 3D Model Formats: What source files can I use?.

Considerations and Requirements

  • You must have an MCD license and the MCAD module installed with Smart Interop Publisher. Contact your Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence representative for more information on the MCAD module.

  • Make sure you have the CustomNXToR3DMapping.xls file in your Smart Interop Publisher-installed location: [drive]:\Program Files\SmartPlant\Interop Publisher\3DInteropMappingFiles\CustomMappingFiles.

  • Smart Interop Publisher supports NX instance level UDAs and document level UDAs, and provides a custom mapping spreadsheet file for data translation.
