SQL Server Name

Select the SQL Server instance name you created for Smart Interop Publisher. If you are configuring a site database on a remote system, enter the system name and server name in this format: [system name]/[server name],

You can also set up a site database on a remote system where the SQL Server Browser service is disabled by appending the system port number used by SQL Server. Use a comma to separate the system name and server name: [system name]/[SQL server name],[system port number].

How To Find the Port Number

To find out the system's SQL Server port number, use the SQL Server Configuration Manager that is installed with your SQL Server installation. The SQL Server Configuration Manager is a Microsoft Management Console snap-in that is available from the Start menu, or can be added to any other Microsoft Management Console display. For details on how to add the SQL Server Configuration Manager snap-in, see the Microsoft Technical Documentation site.

  1. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager, and go to Protocols for [SQL Server name].

  2. Right-click and select Properties.

Click the IP Addresses tab and note the number for TCP Port used by IPAll as shown in the example below. This is the port number to enter in Smart Interop Publisher.
