The Locate Filter command on the SmartSelect Ribbon allows you to specify the types of drawing elements selected. Follow the steps below to set up element filtering.

On the Draw toolbar, select the SmartSelect Command
.

From the Select by SmartSelect ribbon, use Turn Filter On/Off toggle to turn on filtering (the button is pressed in).

Select Locate Filter

From the Define Locate Filter dialog, specify the required element types for selection.

Select OK to apply the filter.
