Select and view a hierarchy

Click Display hierarchy on the 3D model Toolbox to open the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box.

Click the arrows to expand and collapse the assembly hierarchy.

Select a hierarchy in the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box to highlight it in the model.

Click Fit to zoom and fit the model to the assembly hierarchy.

Select Actions > Properties to view a list of properties.
Search for a hierarchy

Click Display hierarchy on the 3D model Toolbox to open the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box.

Type a name of a hierarchy in the Search box.
You can use wildcards to narrow search results. ? to find any single character. * and % to find any string of characters.

Click or press ENTER.

Click to clear the Search box.

Select a hierarchy in the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box to highlight it in the model.

Click Fit to zoom and fit the model to the assembly hierarchy.

Select Actions > Properties to view a list of properties.
Add a hierarchy to an IWP

Drag an assembly from the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box to an open IWP or an IWP in the Work Packages browser.
Filter a model with a hierarchy

Select a hierarchy in the Assembly Hierarchy dialog box, and drag it to the model. The hierarchy is added as a filter.

You can customize the filter with different colors. For more information, see Change how a 3D model or 2D drawing displays.

You can also save the filter for use later. For more information, see Save a filter view.
