Which components can be added to the scope of a CWA or CWP?

You can add published and non-published components. Spools and assemblies are not included.

How are components collected when I add several criteria to my CWP?

Components are collected based on:

The CWA AND selected component categories AND search criterion 1.

OR

The CWA AND selected component categories AND search criterion 2.

You can add both the CWA and component categories to scope the collection of components. Components within that CWA and selected component categories are collected.

You can further narrow which components are collected with additional search criteria. Components are collected based on the CWA, selected component categories, and one or more search criteria within the scope of the CWA and component category.

  • If your CWP was created as part of a CWA, you can include or exclude the CWA in the scope of the CWP.

  • When you add a discipline to your CWP, you can select one or more component categories within that discipline to include in the scope of the components collected for the CWP.

  • You can narrow the scope of the components that will be collected with additional criteria.

  • If you want to make a change to the collected components, click Clear Collected Components, and then collect them again with new or different criteria.

  1. Open a CWP.

  2. Click Content Rules.

  3. To select components based on a custom search criteria, click the Query tab. Select a criterion and specify a search value. For more information, see Create and configure custom search criteria for Smart Construction.

  4. To select components based on saved queries in a model, click the Filter tab, and select a saved query.

You can save search queries when you use selection rules or the Get Objects by Volume option, or when you right-click components and create a filter. For more information, see Select model or drawing components using selection rules, Get objects by volume, or Create and save a filter in a 3D model or 2D drawing by selecting components.

  5. Review your criteria in the Selection pane, and click Collect Components to add components to the CWP.

The components are added to the Collect Components queue.

  • If the scope of the CWP changes, the previously applied scope is changed into a selection criterion on the CWP. For example, you have a CWP with CWA 1 selected as its scope. If the CWA changes to CWA 2, CWA 1 is removed as the scope of the CWP, but it is added as a selection criterion on the CWP.

  • You can configure how often the Content Rules window of a CWP or CWA refreshes.

  • When you add a selection criterion to your package, the criterion does not get updated if the criterion is updated in the system. Remove the criterion and reapply it for the latest information.
