Conditions, such as weather or elevation, can affect the performance and productivity of a construction site. An adjustment factor can be applied to IWPs and individual work steps to compensate for any influencing conditions. Adjustment factors calculate the number of hours required to perform a task under project conditions, compared to the number of hours required to perform the same task under standard conditions.

You can use SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client to create and configure adjustment labor factors for IWPs and work steps. You can configure a range of values including the default value for the adjustment factor. You can adjust the default value to fit the working conditions. To configure adjustment labor factors for an entire project, see Add adjustment factors to the rules of progress.

  1. Log on to SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client.

  2. Click Smart Construction > New > Labor Adjustment Factor to open the New Labor Adjustment Factor dialog box.

  3. Type a name for the adjustment factor in the Name box.

  4. Type a description for the adjustment factor in the Description box.

  5. Type a value in the Labor Adjustment Factor Default box to define the default value for the labor adjustment factor.

  6. Type a value in the Labor Adjustment Factor MinFactor box to define the minimum value of the typical labor adjustment factor range.

  7. Type a value in the Labor Adjustment Factor MaxFactor box to define the maximum value of the typical labor adjustment factor range.

  8. Click Finish to save the new labor adjustment factor.

Smart Construction delivers sample labor adjustment factors in the 100-SPC_SampleData load file found at the installation directory (browse to [Drive]:\Program Files (x86)\SmartConstruction\2019\LoadFiles\003-Admin). You can load the delivered labor adjustment factors, revise them to fit your business needs, or create new labor adjustment factors. Use the SmartPlant Foundation Loader to load the sample adjustment factors.

  • If you want the factor to be a specific value rather than a range, type the same value in the Labor Adjustment Factor MinFactor box, the Labor Adjustment Factor MaxFactor box, and the Labor Adjustment Factor Default box.

  • If you add an adjustment factor to an IWP or work step and then you update the adjustment factor in the SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client, the original adjustment factor remains on the IWP or work step. All future IWPs and work steps use the revised adjustment factor.

  • If you delete an adjustment factor from SmartPlant Foundation Desktop Client but the factor has been applied to IWPs or work steps, the factor remains on the IWP or work steps. The deleted factor is not available for future IWPs or work steps.
