Click Work Packages on the project home page.

Select an IWP from the Work Packages browser.

Click Components on the open IWP to view components.

Click Expand or double-click a component name to view associated work steps. You can also double-click a component name to expand.

Click Add step.

Type the name of the work step in the Name box, select a work step, or select Select SID to add a SID as a work step. For more information, see Select a Standard Installation Detail (SID) for a component.

Click the Man Hours box.

Type the man hours in the Man Hours column.

Click the Actual Man Hours box.

Type the actual number of man hours required for the work step in the Actual Man Hours box.
When a work step is reported as complete, the Actual Man Hours are updated with the planned man hours of a work step. Edit the actual man hours to record specific data. Administrators must customize the IWP summary report to include the actual man hours for work steps.

Click the Actual Quantity box.

Type the amount of quantity required for the work step in the Actual Quantity box.
When a work step is reported as complete, the Actual Quantity is updated with the planned quantity of a work step. Edit the actual quantity to record specific data. Administrators must customize the IWP summary report to include the actual quantity for work steps.

Click on a component in the Components window to save changes.
Depending on your system settings, you may not be allowed to manually add or remove steps to a published component. For more information on this system setting, see Configure and update system settings for Smart Construction.

After you manually add a work step to a component, you may need to sequence the work steps. For more information, see Sequence work steps.

You can also add notes to work steps. For more information, see Add notes to a work step.

Users can manually update the units of a manually added component.

If progress has been reported for a component or a work step, man hours and other details for the component or the work step cannot be modified.

You can indicate that a manual work step consumes a material item by enabling the Consuming Material column and marking the check box for the work step. A manually added work step that belongs to a manually added component cannot consume material items because material information is not generated for any manually created component.
