Filtering a 3D model or a 2D drawing helps you easily visualize your project data and details. When you filter a model or drawing, you can visualize and display details in a model or drawing such as work planned, work progress, drawings related to the model, the status of materials related to the model or drawing, view disciplines, and view specific components. The project data related to a 3D model or 2D drawing determine which filters are available for use. You can apply multiple filters to a 3D model or 2D drawing. When you finish filtering a model or drawing, you can clear the filters.
Smart Construction Filters
All filters are located on the 3D model or 2D drawing Toolbox.
Filter by Discipline
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Discipline filters, which display disciplines associated with the model or drawing data.
Filter by Drawings
You can filter a 3D model with Drawing filters. When you filter a 3D model with Drawing filters, you can view model components in drawings associated with a 3D model.
You can configure Smart Construction to display both the latest engineering drawing and any superseded versions of the drawing. For example, an engineering drawing might be superseded by a drawing with fabrication changes. For more information, see Plan components with fabrication changes.
Filter by External Data
If you have External Data filters configured for your Smart Construction project, you can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with External Data filters. When you filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with External Data filters, you can view information from an external data source related to 3D model or 2D drawing components.
To filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with External Data filters, your administrator must first set up External Data filters. For more information, see Configuring and Administering Smart Construction.
Filter by Materials
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Materials filters. When you filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Materials filters, you can view Materials information related to 3D model or 2D drawing components and spools.
The following Materials filters are available for filtering:
Filter |
Purpose |
---|---|
ETA greater than Required on Site |
Indicates if materials are estimated to arrive at the site after the Required on Site (Req on Site) date. |
ETA greater than IWP Planned Start |
Indicates if materials are estimated to arrive after the Planned Start Date of the IWP package containing the materials. |
Reserved |
Displays model components that have been reserved in your external materials system. |
Materials on Site |
Displays components that have materials on site. |
Materials with a Purchase Order |
Displays components that have materials that are not on site but have a purchase order. |
Insufficient quantity |
Displays components that have an on-hand quantity of zero and a quantity less than the BOM quantity. |
Filter by IWPs
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing by IWPs. When you filter a model or drawing with IWPs filters, you can view which components were added to IWPs. Only IWP filters populated with components in the open model or drawing are available for use.
Filter by IWP Status
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing by IWP Status. When you filter a model or drawing with IWP Status filters, you can view which IWPs are planned to start and planned to finish in the 3D model or 2D drawing. You can also view which IWPs have been started and which have been finished. Only IWP filters populated with components in the open model or drawing are available for use.
The following IWP Status filters are available for filtering:
Filter |
Purpose |
---|---|
Components Need Planning |
Displays all components that have at least one work step for a specific IWP purpose, but the component is not in an IWP. There are separate filters to apply per IWP purpose. |
Components Partially Planned |
Displays all components that have work steps, and the component is in at least one IWP; however, not all of the work steps are planned. There are separate filters to apply per IWP purpose. |
Components Fully Planned |
Displays all components that are in an IWP and have all work steps planned for a specific IWP purpose. There are separate filters to apply per IWP package purpose. |
Package Status |
Displays components based on the status of the associated IWP. |
Actual Finish |
Displays components in a completed IWP. |
Actual Start |
Displays components in an IWP that was started. |
Components in an IWP |
Displays all components that have been added to an IWP. |
Components Not In a Drawing |
Displays all components in a model that are not in a drawing. |
Components Not in an IWP |
Displays all components that have not been added to an IWP. |
Planned Finish |
Displays components an IWP planned to be finished. |
Planned Start |
Displays components an IWP planned to be started. |
Filter by Saved Filters
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Saved filters. When you filter a model or drawing with a Saved filter, you can view a filter that you or another user had previously saved.
To delete a saved filter from the Available Filters group, click Click to Delete Filter next to the filter name.
Filter by Saved Query Filters
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing using Saved Query filters. When you filter a model or drawing with Saved Query filters, you can view saved searches from the Quick Find dialog box.
For example, if you had previously saved a query related to components in a spool, you can then apply that Saved Query filter. Components related to that spool would be available for filtering models and drawings.
To delete a saved query filter from the Available Filters group, click Click to Delete Filter next to the filter name.
Filter by Spools
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Spool filters. When you filter a model or drawing with Spool filters, you can view which components are included in a spool. Only Spool filters populated with components in the model or drawing are available for use.
You can configure Smart Construction to display both the current spool and any superseded versions of the spool. For more information, see Plan components with fabrication changes.
Filter by Assemblies
You can filter a 3D model or 2D drawing with Assemblies filters. When you filter a model or drawing with Assemblies filters, you can view which components are included in an assembly. Only Assemblies filters populated with components in the model or drawing are available for use.
Filter by Fabrication Change Analysis
You can filter a composite 3D model with Fabrication Analysis filters. When you filter a composite model with a Fabrication Analysis filter, you can view which components have been edited for fabrication. These filters are not enabled by default. Contact your system administrator for access.
Filter |
Purpose |
