Smart API Manager Version
4.0

The Smart API Manager web client application is globally enabled. The user can set language and cultural preferences using the browser setting. This setting governs:

  • What language the user interface text appears in - Text such as button labels and error messages can appear in any language that is supported by the browser and for which localized resource files have been created.

  • How number, date, and currency values are displayed - Information such as number of calls to a Smart API and date last modified are displayed in the formats that are common to the selected culture.

However, Smart API Manager does not translate or change user-entered text. Text entered by the user, such as group names and Smart API descriptions, appears as entered.

How Smart API Manager user interface text is made available in different languages

Application localization is a typical administrative process for enterprise level software. Smart API Manager provides a way to easily translate application interface text seen by the user, such as button labels and error messages. Interface text strings for each language are stored in a separate .json file, named using the language culture code of the translated strings. By default, interface text is provided in United States English, in the locale-en_US.json file.

For instructions, see Localizing the Smart API Manager Web Client Application.

Localization with multiple instances of Smart API Manager

You must localize each instance of Smart API Manager.

How an end user changes language and culture settings

How an end user changes the language and culture setting depends on the browser:

  • Safari, Edge - Typically do not allow a language preference setting independent of the host operating system.

  • Internet Explorer 11 - Allows language preference setting independent of the host operating system, but language is still determined by host operating system.

  • Chrome, Firefox - Allow language preference setting independent of the host operating system.

For assistance with setting the preferred locale for a browser, see the browser documentation.
