The following tasks must be completed before end users can view and interact with information in an Intergraph Smart environment. All of the tasks must be completed, but their order does not matter.

Deploy Smart APIs

After Smart API Manager is installed and configured, Smart APIs for Intergraph Process, Power & Marine applications can be deployed.

A Smart API is installed with its application and then configured with its own Configuration Utility. For instructions, please see the documentation provided with the application delivering the Smart API.

Develop custom Smart Clients

For information to assist you with developing, deploying, and registering your Smart Client, see the Smart API Developer Documentation section in the Smart API Manager web application help.

  1. If Smart API Manager is not already running in your web browser, go to the URL for the web application.

  2. Enter the username and password provided to you by a Smart API Manager administrator.

  3. See Smart API Developer Documentation for assistance.

Use Smart API Manager to complete remaining tasks

The Smart API Manager is used to complete the remaining tasks as they are needed. Smart API Manager is organized into features. For assistance with features, click Help . You can also view the help here.

Open Smart API Manager

  1. If Smart API Manager is not already running in your web browser, go to the URL for the web application.

  2. Enter the username and password for a Smart API Manager system administrator. The default values were entered when running the Configuration Utility.

Create more administrative users, if needed

If other people will help set up the environment, you can give each one a separate Smart API Management username and password.

  • Click Users to register a user and add it to the default System Administrators group.

SHARED Tip The System Administrators group has access to the Management API, which is the Smart API that the Smart API Manager web application uses.

Set up groups with users and/or external identities

Users are those who view and interact with information in an Intergraph Smart environment through a Smart Client. Access to Smart APIs is controlled by groups. To use a Smart Client, the user must be a member of a group that has access to the Smart API used by the Smart Client.

  1. Click Groups to register a new group and give it access to a Smart API.

  2. Click Users to register new end users and add them to the group.

  3. Use External Identities to add an external identity to the group.
