Displays properties for pipe parts. Parts are the physical components that compose a feature and are generally selected by the software. For example, flanges, gaskets, and the gate valve itself are parts that compose the gate valve feature. In special situations where the pipe specification does not select the part that you want, you can override the part selection by explicitly selecting the part from the catalog. While this part does not follow the piping specification defined for the pipe run, the part still belongs to only that pipe run.

The order in which the properties display in your view depends on your configuration.

Approval State

Specifies the status of the selected object or filter. Changing this property sets the Status. The display depends on your access level. You might be unable to change the status of the object. The list is defined by the ApprovalStatus codelist.

Smart 3Dx saves an object to the database when you change that object's status. Use Undo (CTRL + Z) to reverse the status change.

You can only edit or manipulate an object with a status of Working.

Bend Type

Specifies the pipe bend type.

Cold Spring Length

Specifies the cold spring length to subtract from the cut length. A positive value makes the Cut Length value smaller. The cold spring length refers to intentionally cutting a pipe short and then pulling the assembled pipeline to the connection point. Because of this, there is spring in the pipe until the pipe reaches operating temperature. At that point, there is theoretically no stress on the pipe or the connection.

Construction Requirement

Specifies the construction requirement for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Construction Requirement select list in Catalog.

Created by

Specifies the name of the person who created the object.

Cut Length

Specifies the cut length of the pipe. Smart 3Dx calculates the cut length using the following formula:

Cut Length = Modeled Length + Field Fit Length End 1 + Field Fit Length End 2 + Flared Lap Length End 1 + Flared Lap Length End 2 - Pipe Bend Elongation - Cold Spring Length + Bend Grip Length + Bend Pull Length

It is possible that the field fit lengths, the flared lap lengths, and the bending elongation, grip, and pull lengths are not applicable to the cut length calculation for a given pipe. In that case, Smart 3Dx ignores them for that pipe.

Date Created

Specifies the creation date of the object.

Date Last Modified

Specifies the date of the last modification to the object.

Dry Center of Gravity

Specifies the location of the dry center-of-gravity for the object.

End Trimming

Specifies whether ends are trimmed.

Fabrication Requirement

Specifies the fabrication requirement for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Fabrication Type select list in Catalog.

Rule Driven

Specifies that a rule drives the value. This is the default option. Click to switch to User Driven .

User Driven

Allows you to select a value. Click to switch to Rule Driven .

Fabrication Type

Specifies the type of fabrication for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Fabrication Type select list in Catalog.

Rule Controlled

Specifies that a rule defined for a parent property controls the value. If Rule Controlled does not display, you can select a value.

Field Liner Thickness

Specifies the field liner thickness if a liner is defined.

Grip Length

Specifies the grip length.

Hyperlink

Specifies the URL or local file path associated with the object. Click the hyperlink to open the page or object in your default browser. Point to the hyperlink to display the URL or path as a tooltip.

Description

Specifies the descriptive text associated with the hyperlink.

URL

Specifies the web address or local file name associated with the hyperlink. The URL must include the protocol, such as http: or https:, as well as the domain name. For example, https://hexagonppm.com/.

Is Base Part

Specifies whether the object is a base part.

Is Insulated

Specifies whether the nozzle object is insulated. If set to False, you cannot modify the information to any of the insulation properties.

Isometric Sheet Number

Specifies the isometric sheet number for the part. This property is used in conjunction with the Group Pipe Parts Command in Piping.

Last Modified by

Specifies the name of the person who last modified the object.

Minimum Length Check

Specifies whether the software validates pipe bending manufacturability rules for the selected pipe part (True).

Minimum Tangent Data Set

Specifies the set of minimum tangent lengths to use with this pipe bend configuration.

Modeled Length

Specifies the length of the object as it is modeled.

Name

Specifies the name of the selected object. If the name is too long to entirely display in the box, point to the box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, Naming Rule displays. If you type a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.

Number of Bends in Piece

Specifies the number of bends in the pipe part.

Number of Tangents in Piece

Specifies the number of tangents in the pipe part.

Parent System

Specifies the parent system for the object. Recently used systems that are appropriate to assign as the parent system for this object as well as the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options display in the list. The most recently used system displays at the top.

The parent system of the object must have an Approval Status of Working before you can change the Parent System value. If the Approval Status of the parent system is not set to Working, this value is read-only.

Select Interactively

Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the parent object in a graphic view or any of the explorers.

Select from Workspace ICON Select from Workspace

Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.

Select from Model ICON Select from Model

Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all of the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.

Part Definition

Specifies the part information for the object, the properties, and their values, as defined in the reference data. For information about the information defined in the reference data, see the appropriate Reference Data Help.

Preferred Bending Machine

Specifies the name of the preferred bending machine as defined in the reference data.

Pull Length

Specifies the pull length.

Reporting Requirement

Specifies whether the object is reported. An example of an object that you might not want to report is a spacer for a valve. You must order the valve, but do not need to order the spacer because the spacer comes with the valve. To change the options on the list, edit the Reporting Type select list in the Catalog.

Rule Driven

Specifies that a rule drives the value. This is the default option. Click to switch to User Driven .

User Driven

Allows you to select a value. Click to switch to Rule Driven .

Reporting Type

Specifies the reporting type for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Reporting Type select list in Catalog.

Rule Controlled

Specifies that a rule defined for a parent property controls the value. If Rule Controlled does not display, you can select a value.

Sequence ID

Specifies the object sequence ID.

Stress System Number

Specifies the stress system number for the part.

Wet Center of Gravity

Specifies the location of the wet center-of-gravity for the object.
