Displays properties for pipe supports. A pipe support holds a pipe run suspended from a structure.
The order in which the properties display in your view depends on your configuration.
Approval State
Specifies the status of the selected object or filter. Changing this property sets the Status. The display depends on your access level. You might be unable to change the status of the object. The list is defined by the ApprovalStatus codelist.
Smart 3Dx saves an object to the database when you change that object's status. Use Undo (CTRL + Z) to reverse the status change.
You can only edit or manipulate an object with a status of Working.
Assembly Selection Rule
Specifies the assembly selection rule associated with the object.
Auto Face Connect
Specifies how the support is connected to the structure face.
Face Nearest to Route
Indicates that the support always connects to the structure face nearest the routed object. The support also automatically updates to select the closest structure face if the route object should move to another side of the structure object.
Default
Indicates that the support connects to the structure faces in the order defined in the assembly information rule. Each support type has its own set of specific properties that can be adjusted.
BOM Description
Specifies the Bill of Materials description of the part. The description includes the size, finish, and length where applicable. The default values are defined by the catalog and are read-only for standard supports. The values can be edited for designed supports.
You can control the units and number of decimal places of the BOM using the HGrStructuralBOMUnits and HgrStructuralBOMDecimals rules in the HS_System.xls workbook on the HgrRules sheet. Your administrator must bulk load the workbook into the Catalog using the Add, Modify, and Delete option if you make edits to these rules.
Cleaning Responsibility

Specifies the location of the dry center-of-gravity for the object.
Dry Weight
Specifies the dry weight of the object.
Fabrication Requirement
Specifies the fabrication requirement for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Fabrication Type select list in Catalog.
Rule Driven
Specifies that a rule drives the value. This is the default option. Click to switch to User Driven .
User Driven
Allows you to select a value. Click to switch to Rule Driven .
Fabrication Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for fabricating the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Fabrication Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Hyperlink
Specifies the URL or local file path associated with the object. Click the hyperlink to open the page or object in your default browser. Point to the hyperlink to display the URL or path as a tooltip.
Description
Specifies the descriptive text associated with the hyperlink.
URL
Specifies the web address or local file name associated with the hyperlink. The URL must include the protocol, such as http: or https:, as well as the domain name. For example, https://hexagonppm.com/.
Installation Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for installing the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Installation Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Last Modified by
Specifies the name of the person who last modified the object.
Maximum Load
Specifies the maximum load that the support must carry.
Name
Specifies the name of the selected object. If the name is too long to entirely display in the box, point to the box to display the complete name as a tool tip. If the name is not defined by a rule, User Defined displays. If this name is generated by a naming rule, Naming Rule displays. If you type a name in this box, Smart 3Dx automatically changes the naming rule to User Defined.
Painting Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for painting the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Painting Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Parent System
Specifies the parent system for the object. Recently used systems that are appropriate to assign as the parent system for this object display in the list along with the Select from Workspace and Select from Model options. The most recently used system displays at the top.
The parent system of the object must have an Approval Status of Working before you can change the Parent System value. If the Approval Status of the parent system is not set to Working, this value is read-only.
Select Interactively
Turns on or off the interactive selection. When this option is on, you can select the parent object in a graphic view or any of the explorers.
Select from Workspace
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Workspace tab open. The workspace is the subset of the active model database you specified when you started your design session. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.
Select from Model
Displays the Select Parent System Dialog with the Model tab open. The model is all of the objects in the active model database, including those that are not part of your workspace. Navigate the hierarchy to select the parent system, and then click OK.
Primary Run
Specifies the name of the feature that the support is supporting.
Reporting Requirement
Specifies the reporting requirement for the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Reporting Type select list in Catalog.
Requisition Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for ordering the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Requisition Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Supply Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for delivering the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Supply Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Support Direction
Overrides the direction of the support symbol shown in Isogen drawings. You can use the Support Direction property to control the support direction that is returned to the Isogen drawings. Support Direction is a codelist property. The following values are supported:
+X
Specifies the global east direction.
-X
Specifies the global west direction.
+Y
Specifies the global north direction.
-Y
Specifies the global south direction.
+Z
Specifies the global up direction.
-Z
Specifies the global down direction.
-
By default, the software calculates the support direction value after placing the support based on the configuration of the supported object, supporting object, and support position. The calculated value is one of the code list values in the Support Direction list.
-
You can override the direction of a support when the support is placed without a supporting structure as the software cannot calculate the support direction accurately.
-
For Move, Rotate Object, or MDR of support along with the route, the software updates the support direction values based on the rotation of the support.
-
For Move, Rotate Object, or MDR of route only, if the rotation of the route is more than 45 degrees, the software re-calculates the Support Direction.
Support Discipline
Specifies the discipline of the supported object, such as piping, duct, or another discipline. If you want to add, edit, or remove values that are available for selection, edit the HngSupSupportType sheet in the AllCodeLists.xls workbook in the reference data.
Testing Responsibility
Specifies the party responsible for testing on the object. To change the options on the list, edit the Testing Responsibility select list in Catalog.
Type Selection Rule
Specifies how this support is selected. If True, the software selects the support. If False, you can select the support from the catalog.
