Smart 3Dx displays a menu of commands when you click the right mouse button. These commands apply to the location of your cursor and the objects that you have selected.

Right Click

If the cursor is over an object in the select set, the software displays the context menu for all of the objects in the select set. If the cursor is over an object that is not in the select set, then Smart 3Dx clears the select set. If the object passes the active filter, Smart 3Dx displays the context menu for that object. In the Graphic Views, the software selects the first object that passes the Locate Filters.

CTRL + Right Click

Displays the context menu for the objects in the select set. Smart 3Dx does not clear the select set in this case. This can be particularly useful when working in densely populated areas of the Graphic view.

If your cursor is over any of the Hierarchy Explorers, but the item under your cursor does not pass the active filter, Smart 3Dx displays commands for manipulating the Hierarchy Explorer view itself. For example, you might see commands for collapsing or expanding the node.

What's on a context menu?

Context menus are determined by the location of your cursor, what you have selected, and the active command. Generally, they contain the following elements:

  1. Cancel the active command. This option is always at the top of the context menu.

  2. Command name.

  3. The keyboard shortcuts assigned to the command. See Define keyboard shortcuts.

  4. A submenu of commands. You know a submenu is available when you see the small triangle at the right edge of the menu.

  5. Delete the selected objects. This option is always at the bottom of the context menu.

  6. Additional commands that apply.

Commands applicable to Hierarchy Explorers also display when your cursor is over a hierarchy view.

You will also see context menus that are specific to the command step:

As well as context menus specific to the selected object:

Some context menu commands enable you to show or hide selected objects, and show or hide labels and dimensions for grids and coordinate systems:
