Drag the view title bar or tab until the compass displays.
The compass indicates which dockable regions are available. If the compass does not display, you are not over a region that accepts docking. Some regions support only a subset of the compass positions, such as left and right.

Drop the view on the applicable part of the compass. Drop the view on the center square to create a tabbed document. Drop the view on one of the arrows to dock the view on that edge.
The view snaps to the specified location.
