If you are upgrading the services computers for the Smart 3D Web API, there are additional steps. This process is broken into sub-sections so that you can easily follow the steps for either the Smart 3D or Smart 3D Admin Web API.

Uninstall and reinstall the API (both)

Perform this procedure on each computer running Intergraph Smart 3D Services.

  1. Uninstall the web API from your computer.

The C:\Program Files\Smart3D\WebApi\Services\Bin64\S3DRuntime.config file remains on the computer. Do not delete this file if you intend for the API configuration to remain the same.

  2. Uninstall Intergraph Smart 3D if you are upgrading it.

  3. Install the updated version of Intergraph Smart 3D if needed.

  4. Install the new web API version.

Start the configuration process (both)

  1. Click Start > Intergraph Smart 3D.

  2. Choose the tool for the Web API you're configuring, either Web API Configuration Tool or Admin Web API Configuration Tool.

The Configuration Utility opens to the Welcome page, which looks something like this.

  3. Use the tool to start the Service Manager and make any needed configuration changes.

For the Smart 3D Web API, if you upgraded to a new version of Intergraph Smart 3D or the metadata of one or more of the plants has changed, you must update the API metadata. You only need to do this update on one computer.

  4. Click Start > Intergraph Smart 3D > WebAPI Configuration Tool.

  5. Select Configure Smart 3D Data, and click Next.

  6. On the Smart 3D Service Manager page, define the username and password to start the service.

Because this login is used to run a Windows service, it must have Log on as a service rights on the computer. Unless you have set up Smart 3D to support database user access, this login is also used to access the Smart 3D databases so it must also have database access.

  7. If you are configuring the Smart 3D Web API, continue with the next steps for regenerating metadata, if necessary.

Regenerate metadata, if necessary (Smart 3D Web API only)

  1. On the Sites page, click Next.

  2. If the version of Intergraph Smart 3D has changed or if your metadata has changed, select each row that has an enabled plant listed with a warning sign.

    Out of Date Enabled Plants

  3. Click Regenerate Metadata.

Change the number of processes running, if necessary (both)

  1. If needed, change the number of processes running:

    • For the Smart 3D Web API - Change the number of Smart 3D Web Service processes running per plant.

    • For the Smart 3D Admin Web API - Change the number of Smart 3D Admin Web Service processes running on the current machine.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Verify your configuration summary, and then click Finish to complete the upgrade.
