For Global Workshare configurations, upgrading from 13.1 to 14 Update 1 requires a consolidation of databases. See Consolidate the Global Workshare Configuration.

Upgrade of Change Management models used for project as-built workflows are not supported in 14 Update 1.
If the client workstation runs out of memory while upgrading the catalog or model
databases, a message is displayed stating that this has happened and the upgrade process
has stopped. If this occurs, restore the database backup and restart the upgrade process
again.
For Global Workshare configurations, upgrade from 13.1 to 14 Update 1 does not require a consolidation of databases. The upgrade process can be performed at Host and then run scripts to update Satellite locations.

At the Host location, follow the Upgrade Database section on 14 Update 1 client workstation.

After Host upgrade run scripts on Satellite locations to upgrade.
