Preparing for the Upgrade - Intergraph Smart 3D - Installation & Upgrade

All Cases A, B, and D

• Unless otherwise stated, the steps in this section apply to all cases and must be performed BEFORE starting the upgrade process.

• Unless otherwise stated, you must perform the steps in this section on a workstation on which 13.1 is installed, as well as the latest Hot Fixes.

• To help diagnose upgrade problems, move all generated logs and reports in this section to a common location where you can easily access them. Keep track of all changes done during the upgrade process. Good practice is to take notes of any steps you take so others can easily track down all the changes and actions.

• If unresolved or unknown errors remain after performing the steps in this section, contact Hexagon support.

• For Smart 3D configurations in an integrated environment:

  • SmartPlant Foundation databases must be upgraded/migrated to version 10.0 before upgrading the databases to 14 Update 4. For assistance with upgrading SmartPlant Foundation databases, refer to SmartPlant Foundation Upgrade.

  • HxGN SDx databases must be upgraded to Update 52 or greater to support the upgrade to HxGN SDx2, which is the supported platform for 14 Update 4. Please note that registration to SDx is not supported for 14 Update 4 databases, and the upgrade of Change Management models used for project as-built workflows are not supported in 14 Update 4.

    There is no upgrade path from HxGN SDx to HxGN SDx2. Projects in HxGN SDx should be completed and all registration information removed prior to restoring any database using 14 or any 14 update in an environment integrated with HxGN SDx2. For assistance with upgrading HxGN SDx databases, refer to HxGN SDx Upgrade.

• In all cases, ensure that you are pointing to the SharedContent (Symbols) folder for the version to which you are upgrading your model.

• Your upgrade of the Smart 3D configuration uses the content on your symbol share, and that content should be made up to date BEFORE migrating the model to the target version.
