The StructLadders.xls workbook defines the ladders that you want to add to your catalog and hence to your model. The ladders that are delivered with the workbook are samples. Do not directly edit the sample ladders to create your custom ladders. We recommend that you copy the sample sheet to a new sheet, and then edit the copy.

When creating your ladders, there are custom attributes and required attributes. You can add your custom attributes using the Custom Interfaces Sheet sheet (described in the Reference Data Guide.) For your custom attributes, you can have the software provide catalog lookups in the graphical interface for an attribute value. For example, if you have a custom attribute for the material, add the suffix "_SPSMaterial" to the attribute name, for example, Material_SPSMaterial. When the user selects the attribute in the ladder properties dialog box, the software displays the materials defined in the catalog for the user to select from. Four lookups are supported; replace XXX below with your attribute name:

  • XXX_SPSSectionName - Displays section names available in the catalog.

  • XXX_SPSSectionRefStandard - Displays section reference standards available in the catalog.

  • XXX_SPSMaterial - Displays materials available in the catalog.

  • XXX_SPSGrade - Displays material grades available in the catalog.

The required attributes used by IJSPSCommonStairLadderProperties interface must be defined for each ladder part class that you define in the workbook. The required attributes are:

Angle

Specifies the angle of inclination between the bottom support and the side frame. This angle is the slope of the ladder.

Bottom Extension

Specifies the distance between the selected bottom plane and the start, or bottom, of the ladder. This distance must be a positive number. You cannot extend a ladder below the bottom plane using this property.

Bottom Hoop Level

Specifies the dimension for the distance between the bottom of the hoop and the bottom of the ladder.

Custom Prog ID

Specifies the registered program identifier.

Envelope Height

Specifies the operation envelope height for the ladder. This dimension is used by interference checking.

Flare Clearance

Specifies the clearance dimension for the hoop flare.

Flare Radius

Specifies the radius dimension for the hoop flare.

Flare ShDim1

Specifies the ShDim1 dimension for the hoop flare.

Flare ShDim2

Specifies the ShDim2 dimension for the hoop flare.

Flare ShDim3

Specifies the ShDim3 dimension for the hoop flare.

Height

Specifies the overall projected vertical height, including custom extensions or gaps on the top or bottom. This is the default distance. When placing the ladder, the software calculates the actual distance.

Hoop Bend Radius

Specifies the bend radius for the hoop.

Hoop Clearance

Specifies the dimension for the hoop clearance.

Hoop Flare Bend Radius

Specifies the radius dimension for the hoop flare bend.

Hoop Flare Height

Specifies the height dimension for the hoop flare.

Hoop Flare Max Height

Specifies the maximum height dimension for the hoop flare.

Hoop Opening

Specifies the number associated with the hoop opening type.

Hoop Pitch

Specifies the distance between the hoops.

Hoop Plate Thickness

Specifies the thickness dimension for the hoop plate.

Hoop Plate Width

Specifies the dimension for the hoop plate width.

Hoop Radius

Specifies the radius dimension for the safety hoop.

Is Assembly

This value is not currently used by the software. Set to 0.

Is System

This value is not currently used by the software. Set to 0.

Justification

Specifies how the object aligns with the connecting structural objects.

Center

Left

Right

Length

Specifies the overall physical length for reporting purposes. This is the default distance. The actual distance is calculated by the ISPSStairSymbolServices component when placing the ladder.

Max Hoop Pitch

Specifies the maximum distance between the hoops.

Part Number

Specifies a part number for the ladder. The part number must be unique across the entire catalog.

Part Description

Specifies a description for the ladder.

Primary Grade

Specifies the primary material grade for the ladder.

Primary Material

Specifies the primary material for the ladder.

Replacement Part Number

Specifies the part number associated with the replacement part.

ShDim1

Specifies the ShDim1 dimension for the hoop.

ShDim2

Specifies the ShDim2 dimension for the hoop.

ShDim3

Specifies the ShDim3 dimension for the hoop.

Side

Specifies the placement side relative to the top support. Enter 1 or 0. The Side button on the ribbon bar toggles the value, so the default setting is inconsequential.

Side Frame Thickness

Specifies the thickness dimension for the side frame.

Side Frame Width

Specifies the width dimension for the side frame.

Span

Specifies the distance from the top support to the bottom support. This is the default distance. When placing the ladder, the ISPSStairSymbolServices component calculates the actual distance.

Step Diameter

Specifies the diameter dimension for the step or rung.

Step Pitch

Specifies the maximum allowable vertical distance between the ladder rungs.

Step Protrusion

Specifies the dimension for the rung protrusion. This dimension is the distance the ladder rungs extend past the outside side frames.

Support Leg Pitch

Specifies the vertical distance, along the ladder, between the wall supports.

Support Leg Thickness

Specifies the thickness of the wall support legs. This distance is left-right distance of the support leg if you were standing facing the ladder.

Support Leg Width

Specifies the width of the wall support legs.

Symbol Definition

Specifies the name of the macro to use to construct the ladder. If you do not enter a value, the software uses the symbol definition at the top of the sheet under Definition.

Symbol Icon

Specifies the graphic to use when displaying a preview of the part in the Catalog task. If you do not enter a value , the software uses the symbol icon defined at the top of the sheet under Definition.

Top Extension

Specifies the distance the ladder extends above the selected top edge.

Vertical Strap Count

Specifies the number of vertical straps.

Vertical Strap Thickness

Specifies the thickness dimension for the vertical strap.

Vertical Strap Width

Specifies the width dimension for the vertical strap.

VIDim1

This value is not currently used by the SPSLadderMacros.LadderTypeA symbol.

VIDim2

This value is not currently used by the SPSLadderMacros.LadderTypeA symbol.

VIDim3

This value is not currently used by the SPSLadderMacros.LadderTypeA symbol.

Wall Offset

Specifies the dimension by which the ladder is offset from the supporting wall. This distance is measured between the center of the rung and the wall.

Width

Specifies the width of the ladder rungs. This dimension does not include the width of the side frames or safety hoop and therefore is less than the overall width of the ladder.

With Safety Hoop

Specifies whether the ladder includes a safety hoop.

With Wall Supports

Specifies whether the ladder includes wall supports.
