  1. Select Boundary Curve .

  2. Define the sketching plane for the curve.

    Define a coincident plane
    Define an offset plane
    Define a plane using a point and a normal vector
    Define a plane using three points

  3. Click Add Intersecting Item .

  4. Select objects in the model that intersect the sketching plane that you want to use as reference geometry. These extra objects display in the 2D environment.

  5. Click Add Projection Item .

  6. Select objects in the model that do not intersect the sketching plane and that you want to use as reference geometry. These extra objects are projected onto the sketching plane and display in the 2D environment.

  7. Select Auto to automatically add all related objects to the select set, if needed.

  8. Click Sketch 2D .

  9. In the 2D environment, sketch the boundary.

    You can constrain the boundary to geometric construction points referenced from profile cross-section key points or offset from plate systems. See Point at Offset from Keypoint Command and Point at Minimum Distance Command in the SmartSketch Drawing Editor Help, available within the 2D environment.

  10. Click Finish in the 2D environment to return to the 3D environment.

Deleting a boundary curve from the 2D environment also removes it from the Boundary List Dialog.
