  1. Click Merge to display the Merge Ribbon.

  2. Select the blocks or assemblies to merge.

SHARED Tip You can use the model to select the lowest level of blocks; however, you must use the Workspace Explorer to select parent blocks or assemblies.

  3. If necessary, type a new name for the merged block or assembly.

  4. Click Finish.

  • Only blocks and assemblies can be merged; you cannot merge atomic parts.

  • Blocks and assemblies cannot be merged with one another; you can only merge blocks with blocks or assemblies with assemblies.

  • Only blocks sharing a common plane can be merged. That is, only neighbor blocks can be merged.

  • Assemblies to be merged must be in the same block.

  • The block or assembly will be merged in the higher common level.

  • The resulting blocks and assemblies must follow the definitions of blocks and assemblies.

  • The merge will not affect atomic parts that you have assigned to neighboring blocks.

  • You cannot modify the Merge command at a later stage. You must use the Split Block or Modify Block commands.

  • When merging blocks and you get to the last one, use the Flatten an assembly or block command instead of the Merge command to combine the blocks.
