  1. (Optional) In the Grids task, add an elevation grid plane to the existing coordinate system at the required location of the bottom of the trestle. See Place a grid plane in the Grids Help.

  2. Click Place Belt Components in 3D Command on the vertical toolbar.

  3. Select a belt profile.

  4. In the Select Parent box, select a parent system for the trestle.

  5. In the Type of Components box, select Trestles to display the Place Trestle Dialog.

  6. Select the trestle type (Trestles or Short/Long Posts), and select or create a system for the trestle.

  7. Adjust values as required for placement parameters, and column, beam, and bracing properties.

  8. In the graphic view, select a top location for the trestle in the area between two trusses.

    You do not need to be precise in your selection. The software defines the correct point for selections near the end of a truss.

  9. In the graphic view, select a bottom location for the trestle, such as an elevation grid plane.

  10. Click Preview in the dialog.

  11. To change the trestle, click Undo, and then make the required changes to the trestle properties.

  12. To place the trestle and leave the dialog open for addition placement, click Apply.

  13. To place the trestle and close the dialog, click OK.

    The software adds the trestle members and footing objects the model.

    The software places footings below the selected bottom elevation.
