When IFC encounters any object to process, it calls a pre-processor rule to allow for the exclusion of the object from interference checking. IFC processes the objects based on the rules specified in the pre-processor rule.

IFC Settings Change

  • Database Detect and Local Detect depend on the customized IFC Rule. Both server-based interference checking and interactive interference checking process objects according to the rules specified in the pre-processor rule.

  • After placing the IFC Rule in the SharedContent folder, you can use Tools > Update Custom Symbol Configuration in the Project Management environment. This command is optional, and enables you to update the information in the CustomSymbolConfig.xml file automatically.

  • When IFC encounters a missing rule, any configuration setting changes, or a rule version mismatch, the Warm Reboot option enables you to update the database for clash detection without losing any valid, approved fouls.

  • If you need to modify the rules, go to the InterferenceRules.sln project in the [Programming Resources]\Interference\Rules folder on your computer.

After you click Start on the Interference Server Settings Dialog, IFC checks the rule versions. If the software encounters any error, the information displays in the Smart 3D Project Management Dialog.
