Follow the steps below to create your document and use the SmartPlantĀ® Review spreadsheet template to create and then update or generate VUE and MDB2 files.

  1. Click Task > Drawings and Reports.

  2. Right-click the top-level model item or a sub-level item in the Console hierarchy.

  3. On the shortcut menu, select New.

  4. Select Folder in the General tab and click OK.

The folder is added to the hierarchy.

  5. Right-click on the folder, and click Rename on the shortcut menu.

SHARED Tip You can also press F2 on the keyboard.

  6. Right-click again on the new folder, and click New.

  7. Click Spreadsheet Reports in the General tab and click OK.

  8. Right-click on the spreadsheet report and click Rename. Type in the new name.

  9. Right-click on your spreadsheet report and click Create Report.

  10. Click the SmartPlant Review folder from the Types of Reports node in the Reports list, and then click the S3DToSPRDirect template.

  11. Click OK to exit the Select Report Template dialog box, and then select the filter to use for the report.

  12. From Report Parameters, type the path name to place the .vue and .mdb2 files. You do not have to define a coordinate system.

  13. (Optional) You can create a separate ReportSettings.txt file for one or more different reports. To do this, copy the delivered ReportSettings.txt file, edit this file as required for the specific report, and then place it in a different folder. In ReportSettings.txt File Location, select the new, modified ReportSettings.txt folder location. By default, the path to the delivered ReportSettings.txt file located in SharedContent displays.

  14. Click Finish.

  15. Repeat steps 10-13 for each report you want to create. For example, you can create a report for different areas in your model.

  16. Right-click on your spreadsheet report and click Update Now.

Smart 3D generates the VUE and MDB2 files, and places them in the designated output folder.

You can now open the resulting .vue files in Smart Review. See Opening 3D Files in Smart Review Help for more information on opening a VUE file.

VUE extraction restricts the following workflows to users who belong to the VUE Export PG permission group:
