Sets and refreshes the SDx work area definition in the Smart 3D Change Management model. The Intergraph Smart 3D Subscription Service runs as a separate software executable.

When you configure and enable this service, changes that have been pushed to the As-Built model, such as new or modified objects, including their relationships, are synchronized from SDx at fixed time intervals. Before starting the service:

  • A work area definition must be created in SDx and assigned to the tool signature of the Smart 3D Change Management model where synchronization will be processed. This work area definition determines the scope of the design work to be performed in the Change Management model. In some cases you might not want to include all the model data from SDx for a specific project workflow. In these instances, the work area definition allows you to limit the required project scope.

  • You must use Integration > Configure SDx Integration Settings Command to configure the service for each model on which the service will run. This allows the synchronization parameters and permission groups to be defined for each model on which the service will run.

  • Make sure that the model you configure is registered with a valid SDx server. See Create a new SDx registration.

  • The initial synchronization of the work area definition from SDx can be processed manually using the Integration > Synchronize Work Area from SDx Command. This service is intended to run periodically to refresh the work area definition from SDx to the Change Management model.

Installation and licensing

The Intergraph Smart 3D Subscription Service executable automatically installs with the Project Management component in the Smart 3D client installation. To run the Intergraph Smart 3D Subscription Service executable and configure update settings, you must configure the service on an administrator server system (such as an IFC/Drawings-type server). You must have Administrator privileges for the configuration.

The Intergraph Smart 3D Subscription Service process consumes one license per computer to process any number of models. The service releases the license after the last model is removed from processing. For licensing, the service:

  • Consumes only one license even if more than one model is configured for processing on a computer.

  • Does not start processing models if a license is not available.

  • Continually checks for a license at one-minute intervals and starts processing models as soon as a license is available.
