By following these tasks, you can create and customize your own hole management reference data for placing hole traces.

Define Hole Trace Custom Assembly Definitions

Hole traces are smart items placed on structure in the model based on decisions made in the Hole Trace Custom Assembly Definitions. You can customize the decisions made by the rules delivered with the software.

Create Hole Trace 2D Symbols

Most hole trace smart items use 2D symbols. You can customize the symbols. See Hole Trace 2D Symbols.

Define Best Fit and Clearance Rules

General and combined hole traces use rules that select a smart item with a 3D symbol and parameters calculated based upon clearance rules. You can customize both the symbol file selected and the clearances. See Best Fit Symbols and Best Fit Clearance Rules.

Add Hole Trace Smart Classes to the Catalog

Hole trace reference data is bulkloaded into the catalog, defining the hierarchical smart class structure in the catalog, individual smart items, and relationships between the different types of reference data. You can customize the catalog. See Hole Traces Workbook.
