By setting up a note and a ToolTip for the construction graphics, you can easily communicate the reason for the construction graphics to other designers on the project.

  1. Select a construction graphic in the Workspace Explorer. For example, select the Vertical_Vessel created in Place a construction circle to reserve vertical vessel space.

  2. Click Properties .

  3. Click the Notes tab.

  4. Click New Note.

  5. Select Design from the Purpose of Note list.

  6. Type Locate Vessel Here in the Note Text box.

  7. Click OK to add the note.

  8. Click Tools > Options.

  9. Click the ToolTips Tab (Options Dialog Box).

  10. Click in the blank Object Type box, and then click … to display the Select Object Type Dialog Box.

  11. Expand the Common node, select the Construction Graphics folder, and click OK.

  12. Click in the blank Label to Use for the ToolTip box and select Catalog Data Labels to display the Select Label Dialog Box.

  13. Expand the Base Templates folder, and select Base Template for ToolTip from the list. Then, click OK.

  14. Select the Base Template for ToolTip label, and click Edit ToolTip.

  15. Select all of the text in the Layout box, and click Delete Delete CLASSIC ICON.

  16. Click Add in the Properties section to display the Select Properties Dialog Box.

  17. Select More from the Object type used as the basis list, expand Common and select Construction Graphics from the list. Click OK to complete the selection.

  18. Select Note from the Relationship to Object list.

  19. Select More from the Related object type list, expand the Common node and select General Notes, and click OK.

  20. Verify that the Display properties in this category box is set to Standard.

  21. Select the Text property, click OK.

  22. Select the Text property from the list, and click Add Row in the Layout section. Put the cursor at the end of the string, and press ENTER to move the cursor down a line.

  23. Select the Name property from the list, and click Add Row again to add it to the Layout box. Click OK.

  24. Click OK to dismiss the Options Dialog Box.

  25. Move the cursor over the circle placed previously to display the new tooltip.
