  1. In an As-Built plant, click Window > New > Project Management.

  2. Select the required project.  For details, see Select a Project.

  3. From the Electrical Index, add the required documents to the Project Management table. For details, see Add Items to the Project Management Table in As-Built.

  4. In the Electrical Index, select a registered report, a schematic or an SLD that you want to compare.

  5. In the Project Management table, select the check box next to the document that you want to compare.

  6. Right-click in the Project Management table and then click Compare Documents.

  • For the rules that govern document revisions when merging documents into As-Built, see Rules Governing Revisions for Documents Merged Back into As-Built.

  • In the drawing, the software displays clouds around the items that differ from the current data. The number of the revision selected for comparison is shown in a triangle beside the cloud, for example:

  • For all document types, the software generates a tabular report in Excel showing the following information:

    • Report document type

    • Current drawing name

    • Compared revision

    • List of changed items displaying tag (where relevant), item type, property, current and previous property values, and change type (New, Updated, or Deleted)

  • For SLDs, the report also indicates:

    • Current and previous revision numbers.

    • Attachment to a different document template.

    • Added or removed items, with an index number (Reference ID) for each item and the change type.

    • Changes in associations between items, with an index number (Reference ID) for each item, current and previous relation descriptions, and the change type.

  • For schematic drawings, disconnected items are shown in the report as being deleted from the drawing and new connections appear as new items in the drawing. The following example of an Excel report is for a motor that was disconnected from a bus > circuit > cable hierarchy, and reconnected to a cabinet via a cable:

  • For wiring diagrams, the report also indicates added or removed items with an index number (Reference ID) beside each deleted item and the change type for all items.

  • For cable block diagrams, the report also indicates:

    • Current and previous revision numbers.

    • Added or removed items, with the change type.

    • Changes in associations between items, with an index number (Reference ID) for each item, current and previous relation descriptions, and the change type.

  • For registered reports, the software opens two Excel files. One of the Excel files displays changed data with a blue shading. The second file is a summary of all changes and it is called Registered Comparison Report. This report displays the previous and current data for each tag that has undergone a change. Note that you can compare a registered report only if this is a simple tabular report.
