The Topology asset model uses data previously imported for the assets included in the Topology view. This asset model gets the information it needs from the Integrity database. The Topology asset model uses PAS Recon and Network Devices data to identify assets on your network and to represent those assets and their connections. Therefore, you should import new PAS Recon and Network Devices data as a unit to update the displayed Topology view and keep the displayed data synchronized. Integrity integrates the information for many assets into the Topology view.

Data collection for Topology depends on the data import for all asset types included in the Topology view. For each asset type, make sure you collect the information required by the Topology asset model. For more information about supported asset model versions and notes about data collection for those asset types, see PAS Topology and Risk Analytics Requirements†on page 201.

Data is imported into Integrity using the Integrity Admin Utility. After collecting the required files, the Admin Utility is used to add each asset, define configuration settings specific to the asset, and to schedule the import. When you import the Topology asset model, Integrity automatically creates the Topology asset. Then, you run the Topology import sequence once to process your existing PAS Recon and Network Devices data and to make sure the data the Topology asset model needs from the Integrity database is updated and synchronized. Since network configurations and connections can change, you should update the collected Network Devices data and the PAS Recon data as a unit to keep it synchronized.
