In Cyber Integrity, the asset hierarchy you define through Configuration Manager allows you to group and organize your assets as needed. This asset hierarchy is separate from the asset explorer tree used in the Automation web interface. You can create a node for each site, and additional nodes for the areas within each site. Then, you can put each asset within that hierarchy. The structure of folders and components within each asset are defined by the asset model for that asset type.

Cyber Integrity uses the node structure you create to set the location. The Cyber Integrity web interface provides a location menu that you can use to focus on a specific subset of assets based on the node in the hierarchy you select. The asset hierarchy provides many powerful capabilities:

  • You can group assets by physical location, such as by site or building.

  • You can group assets by logical area, such as by function or asset type.

  • You can group asset components logically, such as by alarm or hardware type.

  • You can assign permissions based on sections of the asset hierarchy.

  • You can view assets within a section of the asset hierarchy.

The asset hierarchy allows you to drill-down into different locations and groupings to find and view the assets you need. In this way, the asset hierarchy is a reflection of your site and helps you identify various relationships. The following figure illustrates some of the relationships for an asset.

The following figure illustrates how you can configure the asset hierarchy through Configuration Manager. In this figure, the Enterprise root node is selected in the location menu. This asset hierarchy defines the relationship between various objects and assets.
