Isometric drawing styles control several aspects of the isometric drawing output, including output location and the type of object used for drawing creation. Each drawing style is associated with a set of options that control how Isogen processes the pipeline. The way that you configure a drawing style determines what the isometric drawing looks like when it is generated and what information is included within a report. Multiple drawing styles can exist side-by-side to produce different outputs from the same design file.

Delivered Isometric Drawing Styles

Eight template drawing styles are delivered with I-Configure in the [Product Folder]\Templates folder. Each delivered style has an associated XML file named <Style Name>.xml. During isometric drawing generation, the contents of this XML file are converted into the set of text control files that are read by Isogen.

The style XML files are intended to serve as templates that you can use as a starting point for creating customized styles that better meet your specific project needs. After you configure a user-defined drawing style, it can be used as a template for future projects.

  • Check - Designed for checking the routing of the pipeline against the 3D model or 2D drawing. Contains an overall dimensioning style with minimum detailing. There is no integral bill of materials (BOM) list and no external reporting. The isometric is configured for internal use and is not for issue.

  • Final-Basic - Designed for production release. Contains a fully detailed representation of the pipeline complete with Fabrication and Erection BOM listing. The Material Control File report is generated.

  • Final-Cut-List - Designed for production release. Contains a fully detailed representation of the pipeline, complete with Fabrication and Erection BOM listing. Pipeline cut piece references are output along with an integral cutting list table.

  • Final-Erection - Designed for production release. Contains a fully detailed representation of the pipeline, complete with an Erection BOM listing.

  • Final-Fab - Designed for production release. Contains a fully detailed representation of the pipeline, complete with a Fabrication BOM listing.

  • Final-Weld-Box - Designed production release. Contains a fully detailed representation of the pipeline, complete with a Fabrication and Erection BOM listing. Pipeline welding numbering references are output along with an integral welding list table.

  • Spool - Designed for release to the Fabricator. Contains a fully detailed representation of the separate spool sections of the pipeline, complete with a Fabrication BOM materials listing. Pipeline welding numbering and cut piece references are output along with the welding and cut list tables. The Material Control File, Cut List, Weld Summary, and Spool Information file reports are generated.

  • Flat-Spool - Designed for release to the Fabricator. Contains a fully detailed representation of the spool sections of the pipeline, complete with a Fabrication BOM materials listing. The spools are laid out in a flat orientation to maximize the number of legs flat with the fabrication work surface. Pipeline welding numbering and cut piece references are output along with the welding and cut list tables. The Material Control File and Weld Summary file reports are also generated.

Isometric Drawing Properties

The isometric drawing properties define the isometric drawing output, which includes symbols, dimensions, layers, drawing frame attributes, material lists, weld lists, detail sketches, and many other settings. You can modify property settings using the Edit command. The Edit command opens Isogen Configuration. You use Isogen Configuration to define the properties related to the appearance and information content of each isometric drawing style.

The Edit command displays at the bottom of the Properties window when an isometric drawing style is selected in the Project View panel. For more information, see the Isogen Configuration Help.

Backing Sheets

The backing sheet allows you to customize the drawing style with your company logo, watermark, and drawing borders. During a default installation of the software, the software also delivers a set of backing sheets, commonly referred to as drawing frames, to the [Product Folder]\Backing Sheets folder
