Filter based on a certain category

  1. Click Schedule Management > Scheduling .

  2. At the top of the Scheduling panel, click Work package filter .

    Don't see the Work package filter? It's probably turned off. Read how to turn it on.

    1. At the top of the Scheduling panel, click Preferences .

    2. Select Schedule panel > Work package filter and click Apply.

    You can only use either column filters or the work package filter, but not both. If the Work Package Filter is enabled, then the column filters are disabled and vice versa.

  3. From the Filter window, choose one or more of the following options, based on the information you have:

    To find work packages that

    Do this

    Are in a certain status

    Choose Status.

    Only work packages with the status you choose, appear in the list.

    SHARED Tip If you want to know what a status means, see Update progress and status of work packages assigned to you.

    Belong to a certain discipline

    Choose Discipline.

    Select the required discipline. For example: Electrical, Architecture or Structure.

    Are a part of a parent WBS

    Choose WBS.

    Select a WBS, or further expand the parent WBS and select specific child WBS items to further filter the work packages you want to see.

    Were planned, created or edited on a certain date

    Choose Dates and then choose:

    Current: Select the date ranges (This week, Next week, This month, and Next month) for start date and end date from the respective lists. You can also select Custom and enter a specific custom date range.

    Created/Edited: Select the date ranges (This week and This month) for created and edited dates from the respective lists. You can also select Custom and enter a specific custom date range.

    Are assigned to a person

    Choose Users.

    Select one or more persons from the list, whose work packages you want to see.

    If you do not see a user in the list, it might mean that the person is not assigned to any of the work package that you are assigned to.

    Have a specific purpose of creation

    Choose Purpose and select one or more categories of purposes.

  4. After selecting each category, click the back arrow Left Arrow (Back) to go back to the Filter window.

  5. Click Apply.

  • To clear any filter that you have selected, select Clear within the filter window.

  • To clear all the filters that were applied, click Work package filter, and then click Clear all.

Filter using column filters

  1. Click the Filter on the column header.

  2. Select the operator and enter a value.

  3. Click Apply.

For example, if you want to see only the work packages that are open, do this:

  1. Click the Filter on the Status column.

  2. Select Contains from the list.

  3. Enter Open in the value box.

  4. Click Apply.

  • You can select and reorder the columns in the schedule grid using Column options Column configure. However, the first column position is fixed and you cannot reorder it.

  • You can sort the WBS items in ascending or descending by just clicking on the column headers. First click sorts the WBS items in ascending order, second click in descending order, and the third click resets the order to the original state. By default, the work packages are sorted based on their start dates to identify the work packages quickly as per their start dates.

Work Package Filter:

  • The filters are applied across Scheduling, Smart Visualization, Production Planning, and My Work Packages.

  • The filters are persistent when you navigate to any other module in Smart Build and then come back to Scheduling, Smart Visualization, Production Planning, or My Work Packages.

Column filters:

  • The filters are applied only in Scheduling and Smart Visualization.

  • The filters are persistent when you navigate to any other module in Smart Build except Production Planning, My Work Packages, and Work Package Recipes and then come back to Scheduling or Smart Visualization.

  • You can only use either column filters or the work package filter, but not both. If the Work Package Filter is enabled, then the column filters are disabled and vice versa.

  • If you apply work package filter in My work Packages, and then navigate to Scheduling, Smart Visualization, or Production Planning, the filter is not applied in these modules as the work package filter is disabled.
