This sequence is presented as a brief overview of the upgrade process. Each of these steps is explained in detail within the sections that follow.

Prepare for the upgrade

Export all site and server configurations in Server Manager.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 36, and you are switching to use the view and markup control, convert your View and Markup stamps to SVG format.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 38, update any customized scripts related to the Graph_tmp table.
You can also stop IIS to prevent users from connecting to a site during the upgrade.

Run the Upgrade Wizard to upgrade SDx data on the database server.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 27, update your document review matrix column values.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 35, configure the GVC view control.

If you are upgrading from versions later than Update 35, upgrade the Visualization Data Service (VDS) Server.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 36, and you are switching to use the view and markup control, Configure the view and markup control.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 41, upgrade the document to tag relationships created by Data Capture.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than Update 43, update existing document review matrices.

Enable new features in the Update, as needed.

If you have any customized menus or toolbar settings on the HxGN SDx server, Server Manager now preserves those settings in the CustomMenus folder during the upgrade of HxGN SDx. The customized module files are not deleted, but should still be backed up before updating the site as part of a backup process.

All server connection settings and scopes information is now retained between regular update installation. Server connections are located in a file at: C:\ProgramData\SmartPlant\ServerConnections.xml.
