Transmittals are used to distribute documents to an organization for a specific reason, such as to review or comment on information. The process of creating, distributing, responding to, and closing a transmittal is managed through a workflow that are triggered by the lifecycle state, summary report creation, and so forth.

Transmittals are a collection of objects grouped together as one object and associated with an instance of a workflow. They can also be related to specific organizations to ensure that users have access to the correction information and cannot see transmittals associated with other organizations.

Transmittal

When using transmittals, all organizations belong to a single class definition. However, optional interfaces can be used to specify whether a specific organization is internal or external, a contractor, a supplier, or a manufacturer.

The transmittal object can be classified as either incoming, outgoing, or internal with from and to organizations filtered by internal and external optional interfaces.

Renditions are used to manage the distribution of documentation in a different format to its source and with options to include markups, labels, and other information. These are more commonly used on technical queries and actions.
