Transmittals are used to distribute a controlled set of documents in the system to
a specific set of recipients. The term transmittal refers to the report used to record
and track the distribution of the documents. The report details how many, and what,
documents are involved, the recipients, and the reason for their issue. Transmittals
play an important part in tracking a project's progress, such as releasing contractual
construction documents to contractors at the start of the project, and they can be
used for the distribution of documentation to meet milestone objectives and payments.
SDx supports transmittals with one sender organization and one recipient organization.
A transmittal also has one sender and one recipient user or role. To inform other
people about the transmittal on both the sender and the receiver side, you can copy
in additional users using the To CC and From CC user options.
What happens when a transmittal is issued?
When a transmittal is issued, the transmittal report along with any attached documents
are available for recipients to download. Transmittals can contain contractually agreed
upon documents that require implementation. Transmittals can also be used to send
documents for a documentation review.
In the case of offline transmittals, the recipients receive an email, along with a
link to download the zip file.
In the case of online transmittals, the recipients receive transmittals in their To Do List.
