You can add different annotations, such as callouts, stamps, symbols, or uploaded images, to a markup layer using the annotations toolbar.

  1. Select a markup layer from the Markup Layers Manager panel. Edit Mode displays in the row.

    SHARED Tip To exit edit mode, click Edit Mode in the row.

  2. Select an annotation type from the toolbar:

    What are the different annotation types?

    You can quickly and easily add annotations by selecting the annotation type from the annotation toolbar on the View and Markup page.

    What is annotated

    Text

    Inserts typed text, text callouts, and so on. You can emphasis text in different colors.

    Shapes

    Inserts geometric shapes, straight lines, arrows, drawn lines, and so on. You can edit line weight, opacity, and fill color.

    Stamps

    Inserts stamps, symbols, uploaded images, action pins, and dynamic stamps that can be configured to display names and dates for approval and sign off or token values.

    Each annotation type has enhanced styling options that allow you to change colors, add comments, add links, and delete the annotation.

    How do I make text annotations in a markup layer?

    1. Select Text Annotations from the toolbar:

    2. Select the required type of annotation from the Text Annotations toolbar.

    How do I add shapes to a markup layer?

    1. Select Shape Annotations from the toolbar:

    2. Select the required type of annotation from the Shape Annotations toolbar.

      A rectangle.

      SHARED Tip You can change a rectangle into a cloud by changing the Style to Cloudy. After you draw the rectangle, click the shape and select Style from the toolbar.

      circle Ellipse

      An ellipse.

      hexagon Polygon

      A polygon.

      cloud Cloud

      A cloud. This is a polygon with a squiggly line as the border instead of a straight line.

      SHARED Tip For a better experience, press and hold the SHIFT key while drawing the cloud shape. Double click when you are done.

    How do I add a stamp to a markup layer?

    1. Select Stamp Annotations from the toolbar:

    2. Select the required type of annotation from the Stamp Annotations toolbar. Select:

      • picture Stamp Image to select an image file to add to the markup layer.

      • stamp Stamps and Symbols to open the Stamps and Symbols tabs where you can select the required stamp or symbol to add to the markup layer.

      • Some stamps prompt you to type some text that will be included in the stamp. For example, you may be requested to enter your name if a stamp requires a signature.

      • Do not use the percent sign (%) in the stamp text.

  • You can view which annotations were added to a specific markup layer by clicking Expand annotations in Markup Layers Manager panel.

  • You can locate annotations in a markup layer by clicking Locate annotation in the annotation layer.
