Workspaces can have people associated to them. EAM has been setup to account for different types of people who may occupy the workspace. For example, a workspace can have temporary or fulltime employees, contractors, and volunteers for the organization. Setting up people who will be associated to a workspace will be done on the Employee screen even if, technically, they are not employees. The user would setup an employee record and select the Workspace Occupant checkbox. The Workspace Occupant checkbox identifies this individual as being able to be selected as an occupant for workspaces. Workspace screens with Employee lookup fields will be filtered to look for employee records that have Workspace Occupant selected. The Tradesperson checkbox, which is selected by default when creating an employee, indicates that this person is an employee. The user can unselect the Tradesperson checkbox if the person is not an employee but can be a workspace occupant, like a contractor or student. For an employee record to be valid, one or both of the Tradesperson and Workspace Occupant checkboxes have to be selected. Make note that records for workspace occupants only, the user is to select the * value in the Trade lookup field since this is a required field.
