Linear work, whether it is a repair, modification, inspection, etc., is mostly defined the same way for both point equipment and linear equipment. The one difference is that for linear equipment you can also specify at what location or point on the linear equipment that work must be performed. So, a work order on a 10-mile-long road may only take place on a subset of that road, from mile marker 6 to 7, for example.
