While performing a regular repair of an equipment you may find that a part installed in that equipment is the culprit for the breakdown and that this part needs to be exchanged for a new one. The broken part will be removed from the equipment and then the new part will be issued from the store to the work order, and it will be installed. For regular parts this is the end of the process.
For parts tracked as cores this is the beginning of the repair process. The issue of the new part will trigger a warning indicating the part is core tracked, and that there may also be a core that needs to be returned for repair. Note that this warning is subject to the setting of an install parameter. This core return identifies the part for repair. The options for a core return for parts tracked by asset differ slightly from those not tracked by asset.
