A new screen called Configuration Manager – Import has been created and can be accessed by navigating to the path Administration > System Configuration > Configuration Manager - Import.

The Configuration Manager – Import screen is used to import files created by the Configuration Manager – Export process.

First, the user will choose whether to perform the import with or without waiting for the system to complete the process. If the system times out during the process, clicking the Status tab will display the results of the import.

Next, the user will browse to the location of the file that was created during the export process. The contents of the file can be viewed by clicking View File Contents. The user can specify an email address where the system will send the email notification once the process is complete and then start the process by clicking Import.

  • The source and target environments must be on the same build, otherwise the import will fail.

  • If the option Do Not Wait for File to be Imported is selected, when the Import button is clicked EAM will continue to be available for use.

  • If the Wait for File to be Imported option is selected, the import will begin immediately after the Import button is clicked.

  • The amount of data in the export will impact the amount of time required by the system to complete the import.

  • Custom Field Layouts must be configured manually after import.

  • User Defined Screens (UDS) have limitations:

    • Any changes made to a UDS after generation (post activation) will not be exported and updated in target environment. The export is for the screen only, this will not include any populated data.

    • Translations for UDS will not export.

  • Once imported, the UDS will have to be generated in the target environment.

  • Due to the nature of how data is stored, there will be times when a second import will need to be done, in which case, the Status tab has an action link to Retry Import. For example, there may be screens and reports that are being imported along with User Groups, permissions for the User Groups would fail because the screens or reports do not exist yet in the source environment. This would result in errors being reported when viewing the status details. Once completed, it is best to Retry Import and then review the details.

The current progress of the import can be viewed on the Status tab.

Select the record for which to view details, and then click View Status Details. See the image below for a view of active progress of the import as well as any errors that may occur.

If there are any errors displayed, the user can view them by selecting the record and clicking View Error Details. The other option is View All Error Details that will show the full list of any issues that may have occurred.

The status column will update to a status of Finished when the import process is complete.
