The Record View tab includes header information for the CU estimate record including the CU Estimate code, description, and Organization; information related to the lifecycle of the CU estimate and associated project record; and additional buttons which can be used to trigger related procedures or states (Perform Estimation, Quote Estimate, Approve Estimate, Generate WO Activities, Update Adjustments, and Copy CU Estimate) for the selected estimate.

The CU Estimate Details section of this screen also includes required fields of CU Design Project, Status, and Estimate Type. Each new CU Estimate must be associated to a project record, the CU Design Project. One-to-many relationships are supported, and expected, between project records and CU estimates. All new CU Estimate records are created with an initial status as ‘Not Estimated’, which may be updated by the system to ‘Estimated’, ‘Quoted’, ‘Approved’ as the estimate moves through the CU estimate lifecycle. When an estimate is not in ‘Not Estimated’ status, additional tabs on the CU estimate screen (i.e. Work Points, Suppliers, Compatible Units) are protected and the estimate may not be updated, with the exception that a user may manually update the status field back to ‘Not Estimated’ status. If this status change is made, records on the additional tabs may then be updated and the CU estimate re-estimated. A value for the Estimate Type field must be specified as one of four system types - either as ‘Cost Only’, ‘Design’, ‘As-Built’ or a ‘Template’ type estimate. The functionality of ‘Cost Only’ and ‘As-Built’ CU estimates is restricted to cost estimation purposes only (i.e. populates records/summary fields on the Costs and FERC Unit Estimate tabs); however, ‘Design’ type CU estimates, may be used for both performing estimation and for the generation of work order activities based on the compatible units associated to the estimate. If a ‘Design’ type CU estimate is to be used to generate work order activities, the user must also specify a value for the CU Design WO, which is the work order into which activities are populated when the work order activity generation process is performed.

If separate child work orders are desired for one or more work points of the CU estimate, the user may additionally specify a child work order (CU Design Child WO on the Work Points tab) of the CU Design WO for any work point. See the Work Points tab section in this document for more information on specifying work order activities for a child work order.

While not a required field on the CU estimate record view, it is expected that the user will specify a Department for a CU estimate record. Additionally, a user has the option to indicate a value for either Contribution Total or Contribution %, representing an amount or a percentage of costs (in decimal format, i.e. 10% as 0.1) to be credited and deducted from the total CU estimate cost. The Event Log icon in the CU Estimate Details section of the CU estimate record view provides the ability for a user to view a list of all status changes that have occurred for the selected CU estimate. Optionally, if the user desires for a specific type of compatible units overhead codes to be applied to the estimate during the cost estimation process, they may select a value from the Overhead Type dropdown (provided that the CUESOVHD Org. option is set to ‘YES’; and user codes and descriptions are configured for the OVTP entity).

Finally, if user codes and descriptions for the Compatible Units Adjustments (CUAJ entity) fields have been configured, a user may optionally specify any of the Labor Adjustments, Materials Adjustments, and/or Tools Adjustments that should apply to the CU estimate on the record view tab. Any adjustments specified on this tab will be defaulted to the work points tab when work points are defined for the CU estimate. The user may optionally select the Update Adjustments button, in order to propagate current values from all adjustment fields on the CU Estimate record view to corresponding fields on both the Work Points and Compatible Units tabs of this screen.

Regardless of CU Estimate status or type, any CU Estimate and associated child records (i.e. Work Points, Suppliers, Compatible Units, Comments, Documents) may be copied to a new CU Estimate using the Copy CU Estimate button or right-click option. This option invokes a popup through which the user may enter and/or update header information for a new CU estimate record and select which child records should be copied to the new record. It is expected that this option will be used primarily for copying of standard ‘Template’ type CU estimates to be create scenario-specific ‘Design’ type estimates; or to support copying of details from ‘Design’ type CU estimates for the creation of trued-up ‘As-Built’ CU estimates.

Additional information regarding the actions and expected outcomes of the Perform Estimation, Quote Estimate, Approve Estimate, and Generate WO Activities buttons is detailed at length in CU estimate lifecycle.
