The FTR servers on remote computers containing SmartPlant Foundation vaults must also have the SmartPlant Foundation File Server and FTR Service components installed.

The SmartPlant Foundation server must have the FTR Service component installed to enable the FTR service.

  1. Insert the SmartPlant Foundation CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the installation does not start automatically, double-click setup.exe on the CD.

If you are using SmartPlant Enterprise, do the following:

    1. Insert Disc 1 of the SmartPlant Enterprise DVD set.

    2. Click Information Management Software in the SmartPlant Enterprise Installation window.

  2. Click SmartPlant Foundation Installation.

  3. On the Welcome window, click Next.

The SmartPlant Foundation installation stops IIS services when you click Next. The software restarts these services after SmartPlant Foundation installation is complete. Be sure that these services have started successfully before using the SmartPlant Foundation software.

  4. Type your User Name, Company Name, and Serial Number. Click Next.

  5. Read the license agreement for SmartPlant Foundation and click Yes to accept the terms.

The license agreement is delivered as a PDF file; consequently, you must have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view the license agreement.

  6. Specify the installation location for SmartPlant Foundation, or accept the default location. Click Next.

  7. In the Setup Type dialog box, click Custom to select the SmartPlant Foundation software components that you want to install, and click Next.

  8. In the Select Features dialog box, select the components you want to install, and click Next.

    • You can also install other SmartPlant Foundation server components on the server. If you install other server components, the installation dialog boxes that appear during the installation may be different from those in the documentation.

    • You can click to clear the options for any components that you do not want to install. However, if this software installation is a modification to a previous installation, do not clear any selected check boxes unless you want those components to be uninstalled.

  9. Select the program folder where you want SmartPlant Foundation to appear on your Start menu, and click Next.

  10. Verify that your selections are correct and click Next.

  11. Click Finish.
