An FTR collection can be created with periodic or immediate indexing. A collection with periodic indexing is indexed only when the FTR Interface indexing server indexes the collection. When a row in a collection with immediate index is added, updated, or deleted, the row is indexed immediately. The new or updated row is immediately available for FTR searches. By default, all FTR collections created with the FTR Interface configuration use periodic indexing.

Do not create FTR collections with immediate indexing. Immediate indexing can reduce the performance of searches. In addition, the word wheel does not reflect updates until the collection is indexed.

The indexing mode of NEW collections can be controlled by setting the Directa site.cfg file variable FTR_NEW_COLLECTION_INDEXING to PERIODIC or IMMEDIATE.

This setting does not affect existing collections. If you must change the indexing mode of existing collections, contact Intergraph Customer Support.
