This section describes the prerequisites for upgrading EcoSys. You can use this a pre-upgrade checklist before initiating the upgrade process. You should complete and confirm the following steps before the scheduled upgrade.

Software Media on Server

Download the EcoSys installation/upgrade package (.zip file) and placed a copy on the application and database servers where the software will be upgraded.

Review functional changes to EcoSys

Before upgrading, review the release notes for all patches/releases between the current version and the targetted upgrade version for changes/updates that could effect your configuration.

Pre-upgrade Testing

Before applying the upgrade to your production environment the upgrade should be applied to your test environment. Major functionality/configuration must be tested before applying the upgrade to production.

Server Hardware and Operating Systems Installation

Before upgrading, refer to Supported Platforms to validate that your server hardware and operating system versions are supported.

Application Server and Platforms Installation

Before upgrading, refer to Supported Platforms to validate that your application server and version is supported.

Database Server Installation

Before upgrading, refer to Supported Platforms to validate that your database server and version is supported.

Java JDK Installation

Before upgrading, refer to Supported Platforms to validate that your Java JDK version is supported.

Passwords and accounts

Before the updated, the following accounts and passwords are required:

  • Application server administrator account and password with console or remote access available.

  • Database accounts and passwords for the EcoSys database (typically, ESFM), as well as the database server administrator account.

Scheduled staff availability

During the upgrade, the following people and roles must be available. We recommend that the upgrade consultant be provided with the contact information for each of these roles:

  • System Administrator, with admin-level access to application server(s)

  • Database Administrator, with DBA access to the database servers, and knowledge of database policies and storage parameters.

  • Project Manager, with authority to make decisions about upgrade preferences and the deployment priorities for EcoSys.

Stop Application and Integration Servers

Before initiating the upgrade process, shut down all EcoSys application and integration servers that are running and connected to the EcoSys (ESFM) database instance being upgraded.

Back up the database

Before initiating the upgrade process, we recommend that you back up the EcoSys (ESFM) database.
