A project charter is a short document that explains the project in clear and concise wording for high level management. Project charter outlines the entirety of a project to help teams quickly understand the goals, tasks, timelines, and stakeholders.

Project Charter is used to:

  • update the general information about the project, for example, stake holders information.

  • set the scope, objectives and milestones of the project.

  • document the relationships between the project and the organizational strategy.

This procedure allows you to provide the details of a project in the Project Charter.

  1. Navigate to Projects > Project Charter.

  2. At the top of the screen, in the green parameter bar, click the Project ellipsis to select the required project.

  3. Type in the below details:

    1. Project Name - Type the project name.

    2. Project Sponsor - Enter the project sponsor.

    3. Date Prepared - Select the project charter preparation date.

    4. Project Manager - Click the ellipsis to select the project manager.

    5. Project Customer - Enter the project customer name.

    6. Project Purpose/Justification - Type the purpose of the project.

    7. Project Description - Type the project description.

    8. High-Level Requirements - Type the high-level requirements of the project.

    9. High-Level Risks - Type the high-level risks for the project.

  4. At the top of the left-hand side section, in the green parameter bar, click SAVE.

  5. Type in the scope details:

    1. Scope Objectives

    2. Scope Success Criteria

    3. Approver

    4. If the scope details are completely captured, select the Complete check box.

  6. Type in the cost details:

    1. Cost Objectives

    2. Cost Success Criteria

    3. Approver

    4. If the cost details are completely captured, select the Complete check box.

  7. Type in the time details:

    1. Time Objectives

    2. Time Success Criteria

    3. Approver

    4. If the time details are completely captured, select the Complete check box.

  8. Type in the other details:

    1. Other Objectives

    2. Other Success Criteria

    3. Approver

    4. If the other details are completely captured, select the Complete check box.

  9. At the top of the right-hand side section, in the green parameter bar, click SAVE.

  10. In the Project Milestones panel, click the Insert Row icon to add a new row.

  11. Type in the Milestone.

  12. Click the Type ellipsis to select the type of milestone.

  13. Double-click the Due Date ellipsis to select the due date of the project milestone.

  14. Click SAVE.

    Click the Delete Row(s) icon to delete a selected row.
