Project objects templates can be added manually. When adding new objects, do not select Insert or Insert Multiple, select Insert Under or Insert Under Multiple. The Cost Control Level assignment must exist in order to define the budget, accumulate actuals, calculate earned value, and generate a forecast for that project object.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Projects Admin > Project Structure Template.

  2. At the top of the screen, in the green parameter bar, click the Template ellipsis to select the required project template.

  3. Click Refresh for screen update.

  4. Click the Template WBS tab.

  5. Click the Insert Row icon to add a new row.

  6. Click the Rows icon and select Insert Under. This creates a new row under the selected line item.

Do not choose Insert or Insert Multiple. If these options are utilized, the WBS will not be added as part of the project unless the Parent Path ID is also specified.

The Insert Under places the project structure below the selected line item. If the Insert Row icon is used, the project structure is placed at the same level as the selected line item. Hence it is recommended to use Insert Under.

  7. Type a unique ID.

  8. Type a required Name.

  9. Click the Type ellipsis to select required WBS type. The available WBS types are listed below:

    • Control Account

    • Planning Package

    • Summary Level Planning Package

    • WBS

    • Work Package

  10. Click the Parent ID ellipsis to select the required parent.

  11. Click the Cost Control Level to Yes.

  12. Click the Save icon. The full WBS element Path ID will be displayed.

Click the Delete Row(s) icon to delete a selected project object template. Object templates can be deleted from a project object if neither Weighted Quantities nor Weighted Milestones structures have been created for that project object.
