3.1

When creating items in EcoSys, a hierarchy path is required. The hierarchy builder will add the Hierarchy path to the entity set.

For example, consider an entity set has the following values when passed to the hierarchy builder processor,

ID

Name

Parent Id

1

Root

2

Child

1

3

Grand– child

3

The hierarchy builder adds the Hierarchy path to the entity set.

Root.Child

3

Grand- child

Root.Child.Grand-child

Hierarchy builder fails, if the data sent to it does not produce a proper hierarchy. For example, missing levels or looping.

Example using Hierarchy builder

You must enter the following values in Basic section.

  • Unique ID Attribute – Attribute that contains the unique ID of the record

  • Parent ID Attribute – Attribute that contains the parent ID of the record

  • Name Attribute – Attribute that contains the name

  • Hierarchy Path Attribute – A new attribute name that will be added to the entity set

  • Hierarchy Delimiter – Delimiter to use when building the path

  • Sort By Level – Sort the hierarchy by level. This is used to ensure that the data sent to EcoSys is set by level so that parents are created before children

Advanced settings (Optional)

Some data sources do not include a row for the root. For example, P6 WBS Service does not include project which is the root.

  • Mode

  • Root ID

  • Root Name

Mode can be set to the following options:

  • ROOT_ID_NAME_FROM_ATTR – Sets the root ID based on the value in the Unique ID Attribute field and the Root Name based on the value in the Parent ID Attribute field.

  • ROOT_ID_FROM_ATTR_ROOT_NAME_FROM_LITERAL - Sets the root ID based on the value in the Unique ID Attribute field and the root to the string from the Root Name field.

  • ROOT_ID_FROM_LITERAL_ROOT_NAME_FROM_ATTR - Sets the root ID to the string from the Root ID field and the Root Name based on the value in the Parent ID Attribute field.

  • ROOT_ID_NAME_FROM_LITERAL - Sets the root ID to the string from the Root ID field and the root to the string from the Root Name field.
