Asset Investment Planning (AIP) is different from Asset Performance Management (APM) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions; the latter two primarily support the daily or weekly operational decisions and act to improve the reliability and availability of the assets. AIP instead enhances complex, longer-term tactical and strategic decisions relating to the budget allocations and overall asset management planning. AIP systems leverage asset data (primarily sourced from APM and EAM systems) to predict the current and future performance of the asset base over a predefined horizon (usually over a year).
Constraint Optimizer
Constraint Optimizer is a Data Science or Machine Language-based intelligent feature optimized solution. This Constraint Optimizer improves asset performance and reduces the operating cost of the equipment or asset. It enhances the maintenance planning and quantifies even the risk related to the asset or equipment. This provides accurate investment plan (the cost needed for investment).
Capital Planning
In Capital Planning you can create optimized capital plans for the AIP and its maintenance based on constrained or unconstrained budgets.
Asset Investment Plans
The assets are replaced or refurbished when they reach certain points in their asset lifecycle whilst allowing them to meet levels of service.
Multiple Asset Investment Plans can be created and managed in a Scenario.
EAM users can create an Asset Investment Plan in the EAM application. After creating the "AIPs", they are sent to the Constraint Optimizer through API plugin to produce an optimized solution in the form of Planning Results. The Planning Results are then sent to EcoSys to create Scenarios, perform material changes, and optimize the plan based on those material changes within a "What If" scenario.
In EcoSys, you can visualize these Planning Results in the form of Line/Bar Charts and summarized reports. If the new optimized Planning Results are satisfactory, then the Investment Plan is submitted to EAM to create a new Investment Plan revision.
