The SmartPlant Foundation license server hosts the license management client software for SmartPlant Foundation.
For SmartPlant Foundation, the "license server" is a logical server that hosts a single installation of the license management client software. All SmartPlant Foundation users who connect to the application server will be licensed via this installation of the license management client software. This logical license server can reside on its own physical server or on the application server alongside SmartPlant Foundation. We recommend hosting it on a separate physical server to improve performance.
This SmartPlant Foundation license server does not host the license management server software or database. The license management server is set up and configured separately to serve all Hexagon products in your enterprise.
The license management server software must be already configured and available before
you can perform the procedures in this section to set up a license server for SmartPlant
Foundation. For information on what is required to make the license management server
software available to you, refer to the documentation for your license management
product.
